Substantial tripod for antique plate cameras, British Whole Plate and upwards
A very substantial collapsible antique wooden tripod for use with large format plate cameras - I would suggest from a minimum of British Whole Plate format right up to 10" x 12" cameras. It is too large to be suitable for use with quarter and half plate cameras. This tripod comprises three extending legs of heavy oak construction with brass fittings. It is designed to be used only with cameras that have a corresponding circular tripod mount to the underside, capable of accepting the tripod lugs (second picture) which are approximately 6½" apart. Please make contact through eBay messaging if you are unfamiliar with the use of these tripods. When extended the tripod legs are 160cm long.
Condition: A well-used but solid piece of equipment that would be perfect for showing off a prized camera, or suitable for use if you have the requisite skills. The oak has been lightly waxed but shows numerous scuffs and scratches. The brass components are somewhat dull but could be polished to considerable effect. Everything works as it should. One of the wing-nuts is missing a wing but remains perfectly serviceable.
