A large and impressive Victorian magic lantern of wood and brass construction with bellows extension. It is equipped with a huge 10” focal length lens. With bellows extended it measures 86cm long, and it stands 46cm high. Circa 1875.

Condition: The lantern survives in fine condition. Bellows excellent. Lens optics good. Focusing adjustment without slippage to the rack and pinion. Woodwork generally excellent with some scorch marks above the left hand door - most likely indicating that the lantern was originally fitted with a limelight or arc lamp, with high risk of fire. The tinplate is good, with light surface rust.
