Great War Stereoviews, original bookform case and viewer included. Circa 1920. History in three dimensions!
A complete set of 100 stereocards depicting World War 1 scenes, as published by Realistic Travels in the early 1920s. This is the second (and best!) part of the Great War volume from this publisher, the cards being numbered sequentially from 101-200 with no omissions, and all with great subject matter capturing every aspect of the war, from life in the trenches and at the front line, early tank warfare, battles at sea and in the skies, the camaraderie of troops, right through to the street celebrations of the Great Victory Marches following the end of the war. Each card comprises two nearly identical images taken from slightly differing perspectives. When viewed through the stereoscope, the human brain is fooled into seeing a single three-dimensional image, with tremendous depth of field. The images provide a breath-taking insight into this important part of our history. All images are annotated. The collection comes complete with original book-form case and a handheld stereoscope by Monarch.
Condition: All cards are in very good condition, as is the stereoscope. The book-form case has some fading and age-related wear.
