Early aviation, stereoscopic 3D photographs, Richard Verascope, all unique images, 1913-14

£180.00

A super-rare collection of six glass stereoviews depicting the very early days of aviation. The first three images show the 1913 flight of a biplane at Savernake, Marlborough, in the grounds of the 100-room stately home at Tottenham House, home of the Earl of Cardigan. The remaining images are of an aircraft pictured at Reims, France on 4 August 1914, the very day that Great Britain declared war on Germany at the outbreak of World War 1.

These unique and unpublished images are all on glass and in the standard Jules Richard Verascope format (45mm x 108mm), and give a stunning impression of three dimensions when viewed through a suitable stereoscope. All of the images are hand-annotated.
