Antique Magic Lantern, Triple Extension Lens, Two Objectives, Case etc

£175.00

A great looking tinplate and brass magic lantern dating back to the early 1920s, fitted with an impressive triple extension lens with the option of two objectives (focal lengths 9¾” and 18”), and complete with Triumph lamp holder, Jay Nay slide changer, a couple of lantern slides and original metal case.  With the lens extended it measures an impressive 68cm long and it stands 28cm high.

Condition: The tinplate is in very good condition with original 'Russian Iron' finish showing only very minor surface oxidation.  The extending lens is in very good condition, and both objectives have clear optics.  The 9¾” objective has minor edge chips to the rear glass.  The internal condensing lens is present and in good order.  There is some slippage to the rack and pinion focusing.  If it is to be reused the lamp fitting will require wiring up by a competent electrician and properly earthing.  This lantern has been tested using an independent light source and been found to deliver a nice crisp image.  Chimney absent.  Case with non-original leather handle.  Slide changer with wear and tear and slightly stiff in operation.  Lantern slides good.
