An antique collapsible magic lantern stand by Newton & Co of London, believed to date to the early 1920s. Makers plate to the right hand side, embossed ‘Newton & Co, Scientific Instrument Makers to H M The King, 72, Wigmore Street, London W’. Height 110cm, top platform 67cm x 27cm. Oak construction. It separates into two parts for ease of transportation, and when set up has an adjustable top shelf for the lantern itself and a lower shelf for setting out boxes of lantern slides for projection.
